Debbie Davies

Born into a musical family (her father worked for Ray Charles), Debbie Davies started her career playing in blues and rock bands in the San Francisco Bay area. She moved to LA in 1984 to be the lead guitarist for Maggie Mayall and the Cadillacs - an all female R&B band led by the wife of John Mayall. In 1988, she joined Albert Collins and the Icebreakers and for the next three years performed nightly with a blues guitar player famed for his creativity. According to Debbie, "What I learned from Albert is that everything that comes out has to be totally wired to your soul - no matter what." After working with Collins, she formed her own band, which currently includes drummer Don Costagno, bass guitarist Casandra Faulconer, and organist Paul Opalach.

Debbie has been nominated for ten Blues Music (W. C. Handy) awards and was selected as best contemporary female blues artist in 1997 and best traditional female blues artist in 2010. She is one of the only female guitar players with a Fender endorsement. In 1993, she came out with her solo debut release, Picture This, which featured a cameo appearance by Albert Collins on "I Wonder Why." Since then, Debbie has released eleven CDs with her band and in collaboration with guitarists such as Tab Benoit, Coco Montoya, and Anson Funderburgh. On the CDs, she continues to develop the cutting guitar style she learned from Albert ("Ice Pick") Collins.

Davies most recent release is Holdin' Court (Vizztone, 2009). This all-instrumental CD showcases her seasoned guitar licks and soulful sensitivity. Along with a collection of original songs, the CD includes homages to the electric blues players of the 1960s such as Otis Rush, Albert Collins, Gatemouth Brown, and Kenny Burrell, who all inspired her to pick up the guitar and play this music in the first place. "The blues world has long been aware of Debbie Davies' talent as a singer, guitarist and songwriter but with the release of Holdin' Court she proves she's a force to be seriously reckoned with. Besides her obvious technical command of the instrument, her blues vocabulary is extensive and reveals a depth that only someone who has dedicated their life to their work can accomplish." (Duke Robillard)

LENNY BLUE BAND

The Lenny Blue Band has been swingin' the blues on the Central Coast for nearly a decade. The band performs many groove-powered original songs along with electrifying arrangements of familiar standards from all shades of Blues from the likes of Muddy Waters, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Reed, Rufus Thomas, Magic Sam and B.B.King, to name just a few. The Band is fronted by the deeply soulful singing voice of Lenny Blue, powered by the dueling lead guitars of Toan Chau and Ed Frawley, and built firmly on the solid foundation of their precision rhythm section of Gary Steinman on bass and groove-meister Daryl Vandruff on drums. They deliver a big dose of the Blues-power.... So be sure to wear your dancin' shoes. Check out their upcoming 2012 Showdates at www.myspace.com/rootsstew.
